Dear Reader,
I found myself doing a little Palmer Method practice earlier today, prompted by some samples of penmanship sent to me by a young penman, @BrallanAlonzor.
The samples are from 1921 and were done by a Palmer Method student. I’ve enclosed the work. As I looked at the samples, I felt inspired. They just looked like fun and they reminded me how much fun I’ve had in the past with a pen in my hand. As I scribbled across the page doing random drills and words, I started to get the rhythm back – alternating between fast and slow, free and controlled.
Nothing beats that rhythm. It’s everything. It’s life. It’s everywhere.
Sincerely,
Dave
The Rhythm of the Palmer Method
There’s a certain rhythm to Palmer Method writing. That rhythm is the art of penmanship. After years of study, it’s that rhythm that keeps me coming back to the pen.
